Red Deer Pond Hockey is a volunteer based recreation hockey league and as such it is important that parents/guardians contribute in one form or another. If you are interested in being a board member, please contact info@reddeerpondhockey.com

Parents are required to track and submit their own volunteer hours. RDPH encourages parents to submit information as soon as possible after completing the volunteer hours. Volunteer hours must be submitted no later than March 30th to allow for verification.

CRC (Criminal Record Check) and RIS (Respect in Sport) Info for Coaches/Bench Helpers and Changerooms (Div 4 and Up)

Note: All volunteers working directly with our youth will be required to provide an RCMP Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Record Check.

Volunteer Bond

A volunteer bond of $50 per family is collected during registration and is refunded at the end of the season if the family completes five (5) hours of volunteer duties in total during the season.

Overview of Volunteering Roles

Coach
Responsible for the overall operation of the team as per the mission statement and principles of the league = 5 hours
Assistant Coach
Available on a regular basis to help the head coach in all aspects of the teams operation = 5 hours
Team Manager
Administrator to the team website and manages communications between the league and the team = 5 hours
On-Ice Assistant, Bench Helper
Assists the coach on-ice during indoor warm-up and outdoor practices or by opening/closing doors on the bench during games = the number of hours volunteering, in 1 hour increments.
Scorekeeper, Timekeeper
Assists with the operation of the score clock or completes the score book entries during the team’s home games = the number of hours volunteering, in 1 hour increments.
Jersey Parent
Collects jerseys from the team after each game and launders them, returning to the team at the next scheduled game = 5 hours for one month of completing duties
Team Safety Person
Completes required Hockey Canada - Hockey University Safety Program and meets the attendance requirement = 5 hours
Skate-a-Rama Parent
Distribution and collection of all Skate-A-Rama fundraising forms and funds from families on your team team = 2 Hours
Photo Parent
Picks up photo orders from the RDPH photographer and distributes to team member families = 1 hour
Social Planner
Organizes team activities in coordination with coaching staff = 2 hours
Assist at RDPH Events
Such as Equipment Swap, Goalie Camp, Skate-A-Rama, 50/50 ticket sales = the number of hours volunteering, in 1 hour increments.

Board Member Roles

President
Overall management and supervision of the Board
Vice President
Oversees the operations of league and in the absence or inability of the President, assume the duties of the President
Treasurer
Ensure proper receipt of all monies paid to the society and be responsible for the deposit of same, general oversight of the leagues finances
Secretary
Attending all meetings of the society and of the Board, and ensuring accurate minutes of the same
Registrar
Responsible for the efficient operation of the registration of participants, collection of fees and coordination of schedules
Policy & Governance
RDPH adheres to all policy, procedures, guidelines and regulations as set out by federal, provincial, municipal and sanctioning bodies with respect to the operation and oversight of RDPH activities
Communications Coordinator
Creates and manages all league communications
Sponsorship Coordinator
Promotes the league and communicates with current and potential sponsors for the league, looks for opportunities for additional funding for the league
Referee Coordinator
Manages all referee activities including validation of required training and scheduling of referee resources
Coach Liaison
Supports and is the main contact for any coach related inquires or issues, coach specific communications may come through the coach liaison
Ice Scheduler
Works with the different venues to ensure the correct amount of ice time has been locked in for the season, schedules all hockey games for the season based on available ice times
Equipment Coordinator
Oversight and management of all league owned equipment, coordinates the annual ordering of jersey’s and required goalie equipment
Events Coordinator
Coordinates all league wide events
General Inquiries
Monitors info mailbox, either responding directly to inquires or redirecting the inquiry to the correct board member
IT Administrator
Administrator for RAMP registration system and RDPH website, includes the creation and setup of new seasons and division defaults
Division Coordinators
Contact point for the Division to receive and follow up team issues and provide any Division specific communication, involved in Team Build process
